Next Green Revolution

Next Geosolutions Europe S.p.A. has developed the “Accordo per l’Innovazione -Next Green Revolution (NGR-25)”.

Goal of the Project: to design and develop an integrated system of technologies for geophysical, geological, and geotechnical investigations in the marine environment, with particular focus on the emerging needs of the offshore infrastructure sector, including offshore wind installations.

The NEXT GREEN REVOLUTION project is part of the second Pillar “Sfide globali e competitività industriale” of the Horizon Europe Programme and it is focused on the development of the key enabling technology “Sistemi Avanzati di Produzione”.

Project Activities

  • Study and development of a Drilling Rig system for the sampling and measurement of geotechnical parameters of marine sediments. The project involved the design of solutions for vertical motion (heave) compensation caused by vessel movement, and the implementation of automated handling systems for drill rods (iron roughneck, pipe handler, catwalk). The integration of real-time monitoring of operational parameters enabled the automation of critical processes, significantly increasing both safety and operational efficiency.
  • Study, design, and construction of an advanced system for measuring the thermal properties of marine sediments and the mechanisms of heat dissipation around buried subsea electrical cables.

Specific Goals

The goal of the NGR-25 project is to develop an integrated system for acquiring geophysical, geotechnical, and environmental data in marine environments, with the aim of enhancing:

  • operational capabilities,

  • data quality,

  • operational safety.
